One Life Changes The World

There are two premises behind this site. First, as I turned 30, I began to really look at my life and how I've lived it. I want to start 2008 by seizing every opportunity to get the most out of life. Second, I have seen over the years how one person's resolve to take action can grow into something larger and that everyone working together can make a difference in the world.

So, despite my 1998 vow (after a painful Army Ten-Miler) to never again run more than 5 miles in one go round- I decided that 2008 was my year to run a marathon...check that little one off the list as it were.

I didn't feel right (or motivated) to just run for the heck of it...so, I decided to raise money for a cause. Cancer has touched my life through family and friends over the last few years as I am sure it has yours as well. In fact, 1,444,920 new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed this year with about 559,650 expected to die- more than 1500 people a day. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the US, exceeded only by heart disease. So, I am hoping to raise $2500 to donate for cancer research.

All funds pledged for my marathon run will be donated to The American Cancer Society. Regular postings will appear on this website with photos and journaling of my progress as I train. I am registered to run the Potomac River Marathon in Alexandria, VA on Sunday, 4 May 2008. Wish me luck and check back for updates...

Please support me in my endeavor to not only change my life but the world one person at a time as well. While I understand many of you will not be able to donate financially, please take the time to share a story with me or send some encouragement my way.

Donations of all sizes are appreciated and are accepted through PayPal by following the "donate" links provided. If you can't use paypal but would still like to donate, you may send a check to me at:
